Montini Catholic celebrated All Saints Day with an all school Mass on Thursday, November 1st. Celebrating the Mass with the students was Father Richard Smith of St. Anthony Parish in Frankfort. The day was an extra special one for the Montini Catholic community as they also celebrated the recent canonization of Pope Saint Paul VI (which occurred on October 14, 2018 in Vatican City).

Our Lasallian high school is devotedly named after the Blessed Pope who was elected to the papacy in 1963, during the planning of creation of the school. Pope Paul VI was born as Giovanni Battista Enrico Antonio Maria Montini (John Baptist Montini), in 1897 in the northern Italian province of Brescia. He was elected pope in 1963, and served a 15-year pontificate before his death in Castel Gandolfo on August 6, 1978.

"Pope Paul VI achieved many great things in his lifetime," said Principal Kevin Beirne as he addressed the students after Mass. "But, remember, he was once a teenager too, struggling with many of the same things you struggle with in your lives. He was open to where the Holy Spirit might take him." Beirne then challenged his students, "You might be called in big ways or small ways. Be open to God's grace. Focus on the small ways you can bring goodness into this world. Your legacy may not live on through a school named in your honor, like Pope Paul VI, but it will live on in the hearts of those you touch."
