Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!
Today, September 13th is Mid-Autumn Festival in China. This is one of the largest and most important holidays in Chinese culture, celebrated in China and Vietnam on a full moon in the eighth month of the Chinese calendar. The holiday is an opportunity to gather with friends and family to celebrate the bountiful fall harvest and to honor the moon, which represents unity, harmony and completeness in Chinese culture. The Mid-Autumn Festival is also commonly known as the Moon Cake Festival due to the common practice of eating "Moon Cakes" as a form of celebration. Moon cakes are traditionally circular pastries made from lotus seed paste with an egg yolk filling. These days, Moon Cakes come in many forms with a variety of fillings, ranging from bean pastes, fruits, green tea and coffee to ice cream.
Have a wonderful Mid-Autumn Festival!
