It was a celebration of Lasallian education at Montini Catholic's 28th annual Maroon & Gold Gala held on Saturday, March 9th at the Abbington in Glen Ellyn. Every spring, Montini parents, alumni and friends look forward to the gala which includes live and silent auction items, split the pot games and other fun - with earnings going to support the Lasallian college preparatory school's mission of shaping the leaders of tomorrow, both academically and spiritually.

"Our gala celebrates our students, their many accomplishments, as well as those who continually support our academic, athletic and extra curricular programs," said Principal Kevin Beirne as he welcomed attendees. Beirne also offered a glimpse of the many academic, athletic and spiritual accomplishments over the past year, including a graduating class (2018) who earned over $20 million in scholarships, AP students achieving a 78% success rate with a score of 3 or higher and 20 Illinois State Scholars from the class of 2019.

"Since we last met, we have celebrated three state championships, Softball, Wrestling - our 15th first place title in 19 years - and Rugby," said Beirne. "In the fall we won a second place IHSA title in Football!" Beirne also noted that Montini is celebrating 81 IHSA Academic Achievement honorees and 22 students who signed letters of intent to play Division 1 collegiate athletics (from the Class of 2018).

"Our Campus Ministry program continues to engage students in exciting ways," Beirne added. "We are planning our 5th International Service Trip, this year to Jamaica and we sent six students to the southern border for the El Otro Lado Border Immersion Program. We have students going to Michigan for their spring break to help Habitat for Humanity and, just this past January, 25 students - our biggest group ever - traveled to Washington D.C. for the March for Life!"

"This is just a small sample of what we've been up to. As educators we're blessed to see the awesome work and experiences our students have," concluded Beirne, promising even more good news as the 2018-19 school year nears its close.

Five Star Audio Visual of Naperville sponsored the live music and entertainment (Upscale Entertainment of Villa Park) at the event. Other sponsors included West Suburban Bank, The Palumbo Foundation, Airrosti Rehab Centers, Oakley Steel and Special T Unlimited.

The event was emceed by Montini alumna, Faran Fronczak '05, former news Anchor at FOX28 in South Bend and most recently, morning anchor for the ABC affiliate in Grand Rapids, Michigan. "Montini not only gave me an amazing education," said Faran. "It also helped to shape me to be the person I am today. I will forever be grateful."

Several key Montini Catholic family members were honored this year: Joseph and Mary Sue Dailey and Jim and Mary Miller were presented with the Builders of Excellence Awards; Campus Minister, Michael Blanchette, the Faculty Dedication Award; Thomas Young '70, the Loyalty Award; and Frank '86 and Linda Conforti and Frankie's Deli in Lombard, received the Signum Fidei Award. "Over the years our kids spent more time here, with great faculty and coaches, than at home with us," said Frank Conforti. "It was very important for Linda and I that they were guided by some of the best!"

Lastly, Chris and Dee Andriano and family were presented with the Family Legacy Award. "Coach Chris Andriano has been an incredible role model for our students. They are an incredible example of a family that is invested in our mission of education," said President Jim Segredo. "When people think of Montini Catholic - they think of the Andriano Family"

"We are very blessed to be a part of this giving community," said Principal Kevin Beirne. "Their generosity and commitment to our students truly make a difference."
