26 Seniors Named State Scholars

The State Scholar program recognizes Illinois high school students for outstanding academic achievement and calls them the “best and the brightest” of the Class of 2010.  “We are very proud of these students.  This is truly an honor for them and their families,” stated Montini Catholic Principal, Maryann O’Neill

The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) has recognized 19,343 high school students as 2010 “Illinois State Scholars.”  These students come from over 750 different schools all over the State of Illinois.  Illinois State Scholars rank within the top 10% of all Illinois high school seniors.  The selection for this honor is based upon the student’s SAT ACT, and/or Prairie State Achievement Exam scores.  It can also be based upon the student’s class rank at the end of their junior year.  This honor is considered to be the “Hall of Fame” for many Illinois State students.  Over a half million Illinois State Scholars have been recognized by ISAC in the past 50 years.  And now, ISAC has listed every State Scholar by county and high school on their website.  To view the complete list of Illinois State Scholars visit http://www.collegezone.com/407_11520.htm.

Although this prestigious recognition does not include a financial award, these scholars now have another accomplishment to add to their college admission applications, resumes, and scholarship applications.
