WRESTLERS WIN AA IHSA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

MONTINI WRESTLERS WIN CLASS AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!
Montini’s wrestlers have achieved nothing short of excellence this season…and even that is an understatement! This past weekend Montini wrestlers won their 6th IHSA State Championship! This is the first time, in the history of the school, that one of Montini’s sports programs has won a state championship in Class “AA!” Montini’s wrestlers have been led to victory by Head Coach Mike Bukovsky, and Assistant Coaches John Dziewiatkowski, Greg Goebel, Israel Martinez, Tony Marti, Joe Riccordino, Dan Jamieson, Mark Holstein, Tom Malony, and Mike Quirk. The wrestlers defeated Providence Catholic High School for the State Title with a 37-25 win, on Saturday February 23rd. This season the wrestlers finished with an outstanding overall record of 36-1. This year’s IHSA Individual State Place Winners were: Jake Gregerson with a 2nd place at 130 lbs, Isaiah Gonzalez with a second place at 145 lbs, Carl Foreside with a second place at 171 lbs, Dan Stelter with a fourth place at 160 lbs, Dan Grimes with a sixth place at 189 lbs, and Garret Goebel who took a first place state championship at 285 lbs.
The 2008 State Champion Montini Wrestling Team consists of: Sam Brody, Devin Marino, Ryan Dix,Ryan Rumph, Christ Divito, Chris Senese, Mark Marten, David Clarke, Benny Marti, Jake Gregerson, Bob Grimes, Donny Quattrocchi, Colton Rasche, Dan Grimes, Isaiah Gonzalez, Garrett Goebel, Dan Lowery, Dan Stelter, Mike Desmond, Pete Parenti, David Lembas, Mike Rakosnik, Mike Ferrarini, Carl Foreside, Grant Goebel, Alex Saunders, Brandon Hensley, Elliot Hudson, Kevin Dobry, Frank Baer, Mike Size, Ross Ferraro, and Dimitri Willis.
